Transitional Housing

Rental subsidies and Elim operated housing are the two types of transitional housing utilized for individuals and families who are homeless or are in imminent danger of becoming homeless. Rental subsidies are used to assist residents whose rental histories allow them to obtain market rental units but who are unable to to afford market rate rents. Rental subsidies are paid directly to the resident's landlord.

Elim operated housing, in either shared buildings or Elim rented units, is typically used for younger residents and residents who cannot access regular rental housing because of poor rental histories or other barriers.

This housing is designated for people who are experiencing homelessness, are long term users of the shelter system and have Mental Health, Chemical Health, and/or HIV/AIDS. This is permanent housing in the community with ongoing supportive services.
